With Victoria Squires

2nd October - 30th October 2017

Monday mornings 10am - 12.30pm

A 4 weeks course (half term 23rd Oct)

Price: £100

The Textile Club will run for 4 exciting sessions.

Over the 4 weeks Victoria will be showing you samples of an array of art work, which you can have a go at making, using the skills learned in each session.  Each week you will learn new techniques and produce samples on fabrics (or cotton rag papers), which you can then use to frame or stitch onto home accessories.

Monday the 2nd of October

Week 1- Print-Making: You will be creating Lino Blocks for printing on fabric and paper.  Techniques - carving with tools on Easy Carve Lino, printing and adding texture with other blocks.

Monday the 9th of October

Week 2 - Free Machine Embroidery:  This week you'll be experimenting with making pattern & designs on fabric using stitch techniques with a darning foot.  Vickie can show you how to enhance print work or build up a landscape using different movements and layered fabric.

N.B. Please let Victoria know if you need a machine, otherwise bring your own.

Monday the 16th of October

Week 3 - Experiment with Screen-printing:  Victoria will be bringing in an array of Thermofax Screens to experiment with and will explain how to achieve your own unique design using this method.  You'll leave the class with several samples which you can use to create cards or artwork to frame.

Monday the 30th of October

Week 4 - Cable stitching & Embellishments: This week is ideal for bringing in your printed samples or earlier free machine work to learn how to highlight your designs with cable stitching and Couching.  Cable stitching and Couching allows you to use thicker yarns and threads through your machine in order to create texture and surface interest.  Victoria will also show you how to stitch from the reverse of your design.

All levels of ability welcome
