Exotic birds with Watercolour and Coloured Pencil with Jonathan Newey

This one day workshop will give you the tools and knowledge to paint vibrant and beautiful Exotic Birds such as Scarlet Macaws and Lovebirds with Watercolour and Coloured Pencil. Using photographs supplied by Jonathan, you will be learn how to get across colours and tone with Watercolour and then use the Coloured Pencil to add details and texture.
Other skills and techniques you’ll be looking at include colour mixing, using a limited palette, complimentary colours, light and dark and wet on wet. By the end of the day you will have painted a couple of beautiful, unique paintings to take home and have the knowledge to paint many more!
Ideal for beginners and students with some knowledge of the medium.
Tools and materials required

1 x A4 pad of Not surface watercolour paper
‘Not’ refers to the surface texture of the paper and is also known as CP (cold pressed) or Bockingford
1 x size 8 or 10 round watercolour brush.
1 x size 2 or 4 round watercolour brush.
Watercolour paint: either tubes or pans
A set of good quality coloured pencils (watercolour pencils) we recommend any of the following:
Derwent, Faber Castell, Caran Dache, Daler Rowney or WH Smith.
1 x water receptacle (jam jar or plastic container)
Kitchen Roll
1 x 2B and 1 x 4B pencil
An eraser and a pencil sharpener.
You are welcome to bring along any tools and materials you may already have and are familiar with.
