A Puppet-making Workshop for 8 - 14 year olds
with Suzie Q DeMarco
A Two Day Course
Wednesday15th February & Thursday 16th February 2017
10am - 1pm
One of the thrills of making wonderful costumes, creatures and animals is being able to share my love and knowledge of it all, and who better to explore puppet making with, than with those who are already pretty familiar with PVA glue! It's fantastic just how impressive papier-mâché can be, when you know a few tricks, apply some sewing and add a coat of well applied paint... I love the creative brains of children and know they are likely to find these skills both fun to learn and so useful going forward for things like school plays, GCSE Art Projects and beyond.
This animal-themed course is aimed at 8 -14 years - each child must choose an animal, in advance, that will be unique to them and with the help of my knowledge and care they will turn a balloon, some newspaper, some cardboard, ½ a metre of fabric, some paint and some glue into a hand puppet worthy of any stage.
The course will be split over two days so that the product of day one, has time to dry ready for the decorating of day two. There are few enough spaces on the course to guarantee a strong, individual learning experience but also enough spaces to ensure a fun atmosphere and maybe even the opportunity for new friendships...
