As a former primary school teacher and art specialist for over twenty years, I have loved sharing my passion for art with children of all ages. However, it was always my childhood ambition to be an illustrator and so after having my three children, I decided it’s never too late to follow your dream and I studied for a Masters Degree in Children’s Book Illustration at the wonderfully inspiring Cambridge School of Art, where I graduated in 2017 with a distinction. I am now represented by the Artist Partners agency.
My work is made using a wide range of media and techniques including drawing, sunography, printmaking and digital collage and I always love to experiment with natural textures and objects. I am inspired by dark fairytales from around the world, and it was an honour that my final MA project ‘Baba Yaga’ was shortlisted in the 2017 AOI World Illustration Awards and the 2017 Global Illustration Awards.
I have worked as a specialist art teacher and set designer in local schools and run community art projects and a thriving Art Club locally. Alongside freelance illustration work, I offer private and small group tuition from my studio at home, surrounded by woods and a large menagerie of animals! I am now delighted to be a part of the Henley School of Art and am looking forward to lots of arty adventures ahead!
