Emma Benz
Emma is a Henley based Watercolour Artist with a background in Painting Restoration. She studied at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London gaining a PGDip (Cons) in the Conservation of Easel Paintings, and worked at galleries such as the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery and the National Museum of Wales.
Emma is a third generation artist; her grandmother Talia Benz was a hyperrealist airbrush and watercolour artist and her great grandfather Otto Benz was an American Impressionist known for his oil landscape paintings. In her work Emma draws upon the skills passed down to her as well as her knowledge of artist's materials and techniques gained through her experience in art restoration. She has a very direct and colourful style and works exclusively with Japanese specialist watercolours. Emma has been professionally trained in gilding and often incorporates passages of real gold leaf in her work.
Emma's original watercolours, prints and greetings cards can be found at galleries and boutiques throughout the UK, and was most recently selected for the Cambridge Contemporary Art Gallery Winter Exhibition.
