Monday Afternoon - Beginners Silver Jewellery Course with Machi de Waard (Autumn) 

SPRING TERM - An 8 Week Course ​

This is one of our favourite pastimes at the HSA and with good reason - making silver jewellery is a lot of fun, but the best bit is - you have BEAUTIFUL jewellery to wear afterwards!  Come to the studio during this glorious 8 week course, escape to a creative haven and learn how to make your very own Silver jewellery!  No experience or artistic skills are necessary - these classes are for absolute beginners and improvers alike.  This is such a therapeutic, satisfying way to spend time and the pieces you've made at the end are just the icing on the cake!

Machi will provide all the materials, a range of hand tools, access to equipment and, of course, tuition from one of the most succesful and accomplished Jewellery makers in the area. You will be introduced to the tools and given full instruction on their use. Bring an apron if you wish, but everything else will be provided, including the silver for your projects!

You will learn: How to saw, form, solder, texture, file, sand and polish the silver itself.

You will make:  In the first 2 weeks you'll be focussing on getting to know the tools, a brilliant way to do that is to jump straight in with some silver stacking rings - 3 different rings, all designed to be worn seperately or together (stacked).

Week 3 and 4 will be all about creating a unique silver pendant of your own design - Machi will help you choose the shape, size and texture etc. that most suits you.  Then you get to make it!

By week 5 you'll all be experts and will be making a beauiful pair of earrings to get warmed up for your next project...

Weeks 6, 7 and 8 you'll be using all your newly aquired knowledge and the expert guidance of Machi to design and make your own ring or pendant set with a stone using a bezel setting.

NB: materials for set projects are all included - anything specifically different (if you go off piste and come up with a fantastically elaborate design) needs discusison ahead of time and might require a small, extra cost to cover any extra materials.

Please wear closed shoes (no sandals), tie long hair back and do not wear dangly jewellery.

Age 17+ (no exceptions)

These classes will never have more than 10 students per group in order to keep the classes intimate and lively.  

There's no need to bring anything - all materials are provided 

PLACES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE & NON-TRANSFERABLE - if your plans change, please don't ask us to refund/transfer your place (have a look at our t's & c's below for more info).

COVID PRECAUTIONS: We ask that you please wear your masks during this session & that you wash/sanitise your hands regularly.  Please be aware, we will be taking each student's temperature upon entry to the studio for precaution.  Our tutors will be wearing visors & the studio space is vigorously cleaned before & after all sessions during this time.

IF YOU HAVE TO MISS A SESSION

Due to an extremely small admin team, the time it takes up and the financial difficulty it causes the HSA, we are unable to offer refunds / transfers to another session / gift vouchers for orders made in error, changed plans or a changed mind. Please bear this in mind BEFORE placing an order, please don't ask us to make an exception (you'd be surprised how many times this happens).

We are unable to offer refunds / transfers to another session / gift vouchers for forgotten/missed sessions which are the responsibility of the purchaser.

In the extremely rare case where a refund is issued there will be a service charge taken for our time and the payment/booking charges we have incurred.

If it's our fault:

If you're unable to attend the session through a mishap/error on our part, we will make sure you are provided with a voucher to attend any forthcoming sessions of the same type - alternatively we will issue a refund or find another solution.

The income from all our sessions is used to pay for our brilliant tutors, models & photographers, the rent on our studio, overheads and of course to pay the salaries of the hard working folk behind the scenes.
