I’m Kathryn, an award-winning photographer living in Sonning Common, near Henley-on-Thames, in beautiful Oxfordshire. I’ve been taking photos since I was a teenager when I was first inspired on holiday in Cornwall – I began to take notice of my surroundings, light and nature, and started excitedly snapping away on my disposable camera.

After studying Art and Design at College I got my first job in a design studio and went on to have a successful career in marketing after studying with The Chartered Institute of Marketing, driven by my interest in branding and advertising. I continued, however, to dream of becoming a professional photographer and, after some wise words from a dear friend, decided to take the plunge and turn my passion into my business. I enrolled on a Professional Portrait course, passed with flying colours, and haven’t looked back since. I am at my most content behind a camera, and nothing gives me more satisfaction than capturing a special moment for my clients.

When I haven’t got both cameras around my neck – or am being kept on my toes by my young son and highly strung cat – I love to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings near Henley-on-Thames, taking long walks with my family along the river that never fails to inspire me.

One of my other great loves is food: eating it, cooking it, and taking photographs of it. Spending time in the kitchen, whether it’s helping my son to bake a cake or preparing a feast for friends, helps me relax and gives me a great sense of satisfaction. I’m experienced at taking portraits and understand the importance of making people feel at ease so they can be relaxed in front of the camera. Although the commonly repeated advice is never to work with children or animals, I love working with both! I am equally comfortable with my corporate clients, where my marketing experience helps me to create strong images for brands and businesses.
