Machi De Waard

Machi is a Designer, Jeweller and Jewellery Tutor. Jewellery has been a full time pursuit since early 2007, with work being shown at galleries, fairs and exhibitions. She combines her studio practice with teaching, having taught jewellery making for over ten years at various locations in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire. Machi was Artist in Residence at South Hill Park Arts Centre in Bracknell for 2010 and 2011.

 

Machi makes modernist pieces in silver and gold, also using gemstones. She makes her jewellery at her studio in Reading, Berkshire, where she has been working for more than 10 years. Her signature style incorporates simple shapes such as circles, spheres and ovals - she likes the perfection and simplicity of a circle! In her designs, the gold (or silver) sphere provides a sense of tension or playfulness by balancing on the curve or peeking out from behind the silver.
